Great phpBB3 Forum for Free
I've been using phpBB2&3 for years now and I have to say that for free, it's the best forum on the market.

Not bad, but
Not a bad forum. The problem I'm finding is that people want integration with Facebook these days and this forum simply can't do it. There is a method for adding a Facebook login to this forum but it's very complicated and may or may not work. And a lot of the portal addons for it are very busy, with a lot of unneeded info all over the page and unwanted header logos and such. Again, not a bad forum, but not really what I was looking for.

Great board
I've used phpBB boards for several years now. they work really good and are very easy to customize. The portal addon makes a pretty cool home page. you can view my site at www.triplexclan.com it has the portal installed and the mChat mod. using the prosilver theme.

good board
overall excellent board when you take the time to set it up correctly. Plugin and update system are the weak points, not as easy to do as wordpress. Very powerful, but does attract alot of bots looking for a security hole. Take your time setting it up and tweaking and it will be excellent.

Simple, flexible and powerful
Deservedly one of the most popular boards. The one improvement I’d like to see would be to make setting permissions easier, but in my experience no forum software has cracked that one. Does everything it claims and then some, is easy to use and if you were prepared to do a little tweaking you can get this to blend right in with the rest of your site.
