just use Simple Machine Forum, i was afraid of it beacouse i don't know php, but it's just so much esier and the final product is much better.
very easy to use
I loved this forum, it was really easy to install and configure. My only complaint is that it's not available for Linux; I needed to change to Linux OS server from Windows OS. Other than that I loved it.
Horrid
Very difficult to intstall and configure.
Doesn't work half the time...
Things will be going fine for a while, and then an error will appear, or the forum's email will stop working. So you go to the forum and you'll see a hundred people complaining that the thing doesn't work and no one is fixing anything. There are no answers. It's the most frustrating thing ever!
But if you're on Windows, there's not much you can do! Hello Rock. Meet Hard Place.

EXTREMELY WONDERFUL!
YAF is the best forum I have found on the internet! It is the ONLY free solution for ASP.NET developers.

YAF also includes a FULL admin panel; that is very user friendly. The stock themes that come included, are eye pleasing, however to customize them to fit your personal/business site, you will need to have knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and basic C# language. All the source code is provided, from the YAF website.

Though the GoDaddy installation is version 1.9.1.8, there is a new version available from the YAF site: version 1.9.3 RC2. It is BEAUTIFUL!
